Club History

The Green Ant Sports Fencing club was founded in 2004 in Nhulunbuy in North East Arnhem land. Since then the club has moved to Darwin and has a dedicated group of beginner and intermediate level fencers. Being an individual sport, fencing allows for the fostering of a thriving competition in remote areas where the possibility of organising team sports is often difficult to accomplish due to lack of numbers. Social eventsare occasionaly held to ensure the club has a friendly atmosphere, allowing people to becom involved in the club as an active competitor and/or a social member of the club.

The club has two dedicated coaching staff. Greg Stehle coaches Sabre fencing and originally founded the club after a career being ranked amongst the top sabre fencers in the country and representing Australia in world cup and world championship competition. Tony Watts coaches Sabre and Foil fencing and has also been ranked amongst the top sabre fencers in Australia and represented Australia in World cup and World Championship competition.
